Confessions of a
Kamikaze Cowboy
by Dirk Benedict
In the spring of 1985, a young
cowboy from Montana, camping out in Beverly Hills, became a candidate for
castration—or
as Dear Abbie puts it “operative
procedures to cure pelvic cancer.”
The young cowboy dropped out of the parade to Mt. Sinai, Cedars of Lebanon,
Sloan-Kettering and other Temples of Doom and decided to do exactly
what the High Priests of the Cancer Industry warned him against. His was a
solo Kamikaze flight. From
a reviewer on ReviewCentre.com:
Well, What can I say? I read the
reviews with a little apprehension, Then I bought the book and ... Wow! I
read it from start to finish in record time. Imagine the simple idea of
taking complete control of your life, literally by changing what you eat. I
am forever changed. Dirk puts you into the situation he had to deal with,
and elates you with how he overcomes adversity. It's an excellent book. Even
if you are just the slightest bit curious on how to improve your life, your
diet or just your general well being, you should give this book a try. Well
done, Dirk! I love it when a book comes together! |

Mad Cowboy
by Howard Lyman with Glen Merzer
Buy ten copies; give them to
people you love. This is the real thing
—John Robbins,
author of Diet for a New America
Howard Lyman's testimony on The
Oprah Winfrey Show revealed the deadly impact of the livestock industry on
our well-being. It not only led to Oprah's declaration that she'd never eat
a burger again, it sent shock waves through a concerned and vulnerable
public.
A fourth-generation Montana
rancher, Lyman investigated the use of chemicals in agriculture after
developing a spinal tumor that nearly paralyzed him. Now a vegetarian, he
blasts through the propaganda of beef and dairy interests—and
the government agencies that protect them—to
expose an animal-based diet as the primary cause of cancer, heart disease,
and obesity in this country. He warns that the livestock industry is
repeating the mistakes that led to Mad Cow disease in England while
simultaneously causing serious damage to the environment.
Persuasive, straightforward, and
full of the down-home good humor and optimism of a son of the soil, Mad
Cowboy is both an inspirational story of personal transformation and a
convincing call to action for a plant-based diet—for
the good of the planet and the health of us all. |

A Personal Peace
Macrobiotic Reflections on Mental and Emotional
Recovery
by David Briscoe and Charlotte
Mahoney-Briscoe From
a reviewer on Amazon.com:
This book was hard to find since it
is now out of print, but I can understand why. It is really great. It is the
story of real courage and triumph over mental illness. Most people with
schizophrenia are told that they will live with it for the rest of their
lives. They are told that there is
“no
known cause and no known cure.”
The authors of this book show us that there IS a cause and that it CAN be
cured. Thank you, David and Charlotte, thank you! From
another reviewer on Amazon.com
I can't say enough about this
beautifully written book. It is perhaps the most honest and generous book I
have ever read. David's story is compelling and extremely inspirational. His
story has made a very large impact on my life. It's been a number of years
since I read the book yet I still refer to it on occasion. Don't be misled
by the title and think that only those with severe mental health problems
can benefit from the book. I feel that people from many backgrounds and
differing levels of emotional and physical well being can create great
benefits for themselves with the help of this book. This is a book for those
who want to take full responsibility for their health, who are not afraid to
look honestly at there lives and who believe that what they do in the
present helps create their future. If you do decide to read this book
remember to be patient and take your time in the reclaiming of your health.
Also please allow your self to make some (many?) mistakes. I wish to thank
David for creating this gift to anyone who wishes to feel healthier, happier
and to feel grateful to be alive. |

Recovery from
Cancer
The Remarkable Story by One Woman's Struggle with
Cancer and What She Did to Beat the Odds
by Elaine Nussbaum
The words slowly sank in—Mrs.
Nussbaum, you have cancer. So began Elaine Nussbaum's very personal struggle
with this frightening disease. Despite surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation,
Elaine's cancer spread to her bones and both lungs. Three years after her
initial diagnosis, she had had enough of conventional therapies. Elaine
stopped all medications and treatments, and began to practice macrobiotics
in a last-ditch effort to save her life. Slowly, her condition improved.
Steadily, she regained her health. As Elaine recovered from the ravages of
cancer, her family drew upon her newly found strength to become whole once
again.
Here, then, in Elaine's own words,
is her inspiring story of recovery against all odds--from her first days in
the hospital, to the agony reflected in the faces of her family, to her
eventual triumph.
Elaine's dramatic and very moving
story offers hope to cancer patients everywhere—and
adds to the growing evidence that macrobiotics can be effective in the
treatment of this insidious disease. |
