A Systems Approach to Healing

by Morgan Jones

One day you visit your doctor, and he or she tells you, “The MRI shows a small mass in your liver.” Or you hear, “According to your tests, your bone density is 35% below normal.” Or, “We need to admit you to the hospital right away for a triple by-pass.”

How do you respond? Do you …

A.      Get depressed and try to drown your sorrow in a six-pack of Shiner Bock, a whole package of Pepperidge Farms Milano cookies, or a pint of Häagen-Dazs Rum Raisin?

B.      Get mad at God, the establishment, or your parents for making you sick?

C.      Remember the old joke, “If I’d have known I was going to live this long, I’d have taken better care of myself”?

D.      All of the above?

In this lecture, Morgan will thoughtfully address the question of why we get sick, and thus what we need to do to heal. And he will explain in detail his belief that each of us is the creator of our own health—be it good or bad. In simple, non-technical terms he will explain:

ü       Why we get sick

ü       The weaknesses—as well as the strengths—of modern western medicine and "alternative" modalities

ü       Why it’s important to do your own research rather than simply trusting the claims of government agencies or the pharmaceutical and other industries with a vested interest in “sickness”

ü       How to see the early warning signs of degenerative disease

ü       How the many decisions we make each day—conscious and unconscious—add up to either good health and a positive outlook on life, or disease, depression, and pain

ü       When—and how—to best work with health professionals for maximum personal benefit

ü       That aging does not automatically mean fatigue, pain, reduced mobility, or decreasing mental clarity
